Memorial Day 2009

I have to admit, I love toe pictures and this is one of my favorites yet.

What an amazingly perfect day we had. We went to the parade, which was so wonderful because it was Charlotte's first parade. She got to see her Father march in it, though she was mostly checking out all the lights and noises. I, as well, absolutely adore watching him in the parade and it is one of my favorite days of the whole year.
It was such an amazing day filled with those celebrating those who have served our country and have a good time. We went to the Westport parade, shopped, ate and then ended the day at the Southport picnic, thrown by the Southport Fire Company of Fairfield.
Charlotte watched with such intrigue, all of the events of the day. She may have mostly enjoyed nibbling on the pickles at lunch, but we more than enjoyed watching her take in another beautiful day.

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mother's Day everyone! We had a nice low key weekend and got some much needed yard work done. Charlotte has started to really be able to sit up and, I say this every post, it just feels like time is flying by! She is getting so big and so full of wonder. I also feel as though everyone I know is pregnant, which is mighty tempting to work on a sibling for Charlotte! :)
We wish all the mothers we know not only a wonderful day, but a wonderful day every day!

First tooth!!

Where is the time going? It seems just a few days ago we were bringing her home and thinking about major milestones, but not realizing that they DO happen and time flies by. Charlotte has popped her first tooth today, much to her dismay. We were wondering why she has been so unhappy lately but never found a tooth until tonight.
After a major battle with a stomach bug and trip to the hospital, I have had to keep my distance from her - no hugging and kissing and playing, which has been extremely difficult on me. Ben was thrilled to feel her tooth and immediately we were overjoyed! She is growing up and it is amazing to see these moments in her development. There is a tinge of sadness, as I realize this time really goes by fast and we must cherish every day with her, as she changes and becomes her own little "mini adult." This just means she needs a sibling soon :)

Rolling on...

We have been enjoying the sunshine lately, though we have not enjoyed the few 90 degree days. This week Charlotte has learned how to roll over and has not stopped since she learned the magical move of swooping her arm underneath her to complete the move. Frank has been wonderful with her and remains close to her side most of the time. He still has his fresh moments, but he is very gentle with Charlotte. Notoriously known as the untrainable dog, he has learned "gentle." We are very proud of him. We look forward to many more outdoor adventures with Charlotte this Spring.
She loves to eat, and this week marked her first "real" food; home made applesauce. I have decided to make all of our baby foods at home since I have the luxury of time to do so. I cannot wait to get into veggies and teething cookies!

Sunny Sunday

We had a wonderful day in steamy northwestern CT today at our friends house. Charlotte was happy to be outside and is most happy when she is there. She is making a silly face here but I thought it was very cute. She is exploring the grass in her toes and sounds of the birds...

Kisses for my pooter face!

She was in a very funny twisting pose here. She has not mastered rolling over 100% but she is slowly getting there. She is cooing, kicking, giggling and generally exploring her emotions and growing very fond of her mom and dad.

Sand in the Toes

I love the matching bald heads...

We had our first "beachy" outing today at the Farmington River, which has extensive trails and great scenery. It was the first time her toes touched sand and she was absolutely intrigued by the running water and the soft sand. The river was roaring so she happily stared at it and it was fun to watch her faces. It was rediculously and unseasonably hot today, so we kept the visit short, but we look forward to more trips!

Alexis Stein Photography

This is one of my favorite hands and toes picture ever!

They say it pays to know the right people. Well, in my instance, one of my very best friends, Alexis Stein, is a talented photographer. She was our wedding photographer and now I have a whole new subject to photograph and we have had so much fun taking pictures. Even luckier for me, she is moving from CA to CT next month to pursue her photography business here in the Northeast and all over.
Her website is under contruction, and near completion, so as soon as it is ready I will post it here for everyone to see the full scope of how talented she is.

The Mighty Saucer

Charlotte is growing in leaps and bounds - up to 17lbs! She is full of smiles, coos and it is really fun to watch her discover the world around her. She is gobbling up loads of baby oatmeal and brown rice. Soon we will start the tasty veggies. We have had some nice local adventures and are looking forward to this warmer weather!

It was a Happy first Easter for everyone, traveling from Stamford to Branford. Charlotte was, needless to say, very tired after a long day filled with visiting everyone. We saw family and long time friends and thier families who we have not seen since Charlotte was born. Frank was in on the fun too! We hope everyone had a great Easter weekend!!
