Ode to Summer

Admittedly, summer is my least favorite season. I hate heat and humidity. However, my main reason for hating summer is the wild thunderstorms we get in Litchfield County. My fear of them gets worse as time goes by and frankly, if we could move much farther north into the Northeast I would go, simply based on the thunder we get.
Moving on....here are some fun summer pictures. I killed my first Maine lobsters, the poor things! They were so cute, and then SO delicious.
Just this past weekend Charlotte had her first dip in a pool at our friends Farmington Village home. They are in thier sixties and seventies, and it was so special to spend some time with them. I will preface this by saying, they are totally hip and with it and by no means, "old." The pool was a tad cold, but she braved the chilly water and enjoyed it with Ben for a few moments. While the pool looked nice, I simply enjoyed some wine and cheese.
We also went to a lake party at Pinewood Lake in Trumbull and it was in support of Make-A-Wish. One of the Westport Firemen throws a wonderful annual party and people from all over come to donate. This year, the little girl who was getting "the wish" was there to thank everyone and it struck me for the first time how hard it must be to be her parents. I guess the world looks a little different when you are a parent.
So, as September approaches, we may have not gone on any big trips but we filled it with lots of good times and watched Charlotte grow leaps and bounds. Next summer we hope to resume the annual Nantucket voyage!
Oh yes, on a side note, we have six teeth!

Pearls

Sometimes lazy summer days turn into the most fun photo shoots. What starts as a simple idea, often morphs into a collaboration of fun and props! We had a lot of fun playing with Charlotte in an antique bowl and a big strand of pearls. She was thrilled to sit in the bowl and enjoyed the "lady-like" prop.

She did have her nine month check up, which went great. She is 19lbs and 29". She is in the 75% of height and 50% of weight. The doctor said she is gorgeous and healthy. He still supposes she may be a red head!

Here are some more sweet pictures of Baby Charlotte taken one lazy afternoon by Alexis. We have so much fun together and Charlotte really makes it easy to smile and be happy.

Fun with Decor

Sometimes, life has such simple moments that turn out to be special and beautiful in thier own way. I suppose a baby playing with a decorative ball may not seem very exciting, but in reality, can be very intriguing. These images are more wonderful moments captured by Alexis Stein of Alexis Stein Photography.
Charlotte amazes me every day and is growing like a weed. She is starting to be "shy" around strangers, burying her face in my shoulder but also loving attention for everyone and anyone. She really knows what she likes and what she dislikes.
Makes you think...won't it be fun to have a sibling for her? *no, I am not pregnant yet*

Boldog Szuletesnapot Papa!

Happy Birthday to our wonderful Dad, Papa and Friend! We celebrated 70 years of my Fathers amazing life this weekend and had a great time doing so. Now, I can attempt to sum up my Fathers seventy years, which include escaping the Hungarian Revolution, being adopted into the US, a lifelong career at Yale, three children, three grandchildren...etc....but that would require a novel.
I have learned a lot of things from my Father and it was very important to me to celebrate in a grand way and gather all of our friends and family. He is not just a wonderful Father, but an incredible and humble man. We all love you Dad!
Above is our fabulous cake from my "cake lady" as I call her...Diane Burke of Dianes Sweet Treats, who also did my wedding cake, anniversary cake and baby shower cake. I designed it and she created it! She is amazing!

I call this the Hungarian "wine koozie"...not sure if that is what it is. I was too busy taking pictures to hear what it really is.

We had a ball taking family pictures!

I had Alexis's camera so I was literally taking pictures of everything!

Adam and Charlotte meet for the first time! They were born days apart and Charlotte has a 'few' pounds on Adam!

Papa!

I brought these spider flower and I love them!

White Chair

Boy, do I feel the difference of using my basic camera compared to Alexis Stein's fabulous professional cameras. These were taken with my camera...boy I want a camera like hers! Much better quality than these! Ah well...I took these this weekend and had a lot of fun with Charlotte.
She pulled herself up for the very first time! Trouble is just around the corner!
I know this dress has been seen in many pictures before, and though she has a rediculous amount of clothes, I always reach for the favorites!
On a side note of photography, I am learning Photoshop with Alexis' help. It is wonderful to be able to edit basic things in my own work!

While I love her toes oh so much, I also love those little hands (or as I call them, her "piggy hands" - for no reason other than its a name I made up!)

She is so full of personality and happiness throughout the day. She only gets really mad when she is hungry or pooped out.
